On August 21st in Toronto, 3.Paradis, the design duo consisting of Emeric Tchatchoua and Raymond Cheung, the latter a graduate of LaSalle College’s Fashion Design program, won the Emerging Menswear Designer Award (EMDA) at Toronto Men’s Fashion Week (TOM*).
3.Paradis’s award consisted of $10,000 in cash, a one-year membership at the Toronto Fashion Incubator (TFI), a professional lookbook, a feature in TOM* Magazine, and a runway show at TOM* Fall/Winter 2016.
By winning the EMDA, 3.Paradis joins ranks with the previous winner, Joao Paulo Guedes, who was catapulted into the spotlight following his victory at the first edition of the competition, which took place last summer.
About the Emerging Menswear Designer Award (EMDA)
In partnership with the TFI, the EMDA was created to discover emerging Canadian menswear designers by giving them a national and international platform to showcase their ready-to-wear menswear collections. For this competition, the five finalists, including 3.Paradis, presented their designs on the runway in front of a crowd of fashionable Torontonians as well as national and international media representatives. The winner was chosen by a jury of professionals from the Canadian fashion industry, including TFI executive director Susan Langdon, The Image Is president Hans Koechling, and renowned Canadian designer David Dixon.
